Cooking for seven in the Remoska

On the cycle leg of the journey from the Dead Sea

Mount Everest
The British EVERESTMAX team embarked on the world’s ‘Longest Climb’ in their bid to achieve a world first. Their plan was simple, to climb in a single journey from the lowest point on earth, the Dead Sea, to the highest, Mount Everest. The Remoska went with them.

“The beauty of the Remoska cooker lies in its simplicity. Even in the middle of
the Iranian desert, or the depths of the Turkish winter, it worked without fault.
Its modest power requirement meant that our generator could handle the load
with ease. When you are cycling a hundred miles a day and the local food is
suspect, feeding yourself well is crucial. From the Remoska we enjoyed pasta
bakes, stews, even apple crumbles and chocolate puddings. The large Remoska was big enough to feed seven of us comfortably and the psychological boost of
enjoying such food was enormous”.

On Everest we still used the cooker to good effect at a height of 5100m or 17000’ and again the ease of use and effect on morale was enormous. I say with confidence that the Remoska cooker played a surprisingly key role in the success of our expedition.
