The Baby Remoska cooks for 1-2 people.

The Standard Remoska cooks for 2-4 people.

Because a Remoska is it’s own individual versatile cooking appliance, we talk about ‘cooking’– but most of your traditional cooking terms can be applied.

You can ‘Roast’ a joint of meat.

You can ‘Roast’ vegetables.

You can ‘Bake’ potatoes

You can ‘Grill’ chops, bacon and sausages.

You can ‘Fry’ eggs.

You can ‘Bake’ a cake.

You can ‘Bake’ bread.

You can cook a whole chicken in a Remoska
(subject to size, one that fits which- ever Remoska, Standard, Grand).

You can put meat AND vegetables in at the same time

You can cook Yorkshire Pudding in the Remoska.

You can use pre-prepared shop bought meals.

You can use microwave meals.

You can put ‘tinfoil’ containers in a Remoska.
We recommend ‘tinfoil’ for some recipes like fish.

You can use ovenproof glass dishes in a Remoska.

You can use, and we recommend using a ‘roasting bag’.

Some items will cook quicker than a conventional oven.

Using a Remoska – the basics

The Remoska cooks between 190 and 220 degrees.
Something like between 190C/345F Gas mark 5 and 220C/425F Gas Mark 6*.

The Remoska is not a slow cooker.
On the contrary, some food will cook faster than in a normal oven.

Simply place your ingredients in the pan, according to the recipe, i.e drizzle of oil, grease the sides etc, replace the lid, switch on and await to obtain great results. It couldn't be easier.

It is possible to prepare a whole meal for the family in the Remoska.

The Remoska works just like an oven. You can make toasted sandwiches, or
cook ready meals in foil containers.

You may place your food directly in the pan or in ovenproof dishes to fit in the Remoska.

You can cook pre-prepared food from frozen.

You can defrost food in the Remoska.

Food, including cakes may be cooked from cold.

You can use a Remoska to re-heat food.

The Remoska may be used as a 'Bain Marie'.

Wrap portions of food in very lightly greased foil, ideal if you are on a fat free diet - fish particularly remains moist and full of flavour.

You can bake in a Remoska

Puff pastry rises like a dream and sponge cakes stay moist.

The Remoska probably cooks the best roast chicken you have ever tasted.

The Remoska is extremely economical to use, easy to clean – the Teflon® pan is non-stick so will rinse out – not even worth putting in the dishwasher though it's quite safe to do so.

Cooking Instructions/Cooking times
Believe it or not, oven temperatures and cooking times are not an exact science.

Here are some examples of Cooking instructions from famous high street branded products, based on using ‘traditional’ ovens.
Beef and Onion Pie
Cooking appliances vary. Adjust times according to your particular oven. These instructions are given as a guide.
Make sure that the food is cooked throughout and piping hot before serving. For best results cook from frozen.
Bake in a pre-heated oven at 220/425 Gas Mark 6 and cook for approximately 55 Minutes until pastry is golden brown.

Italian Pizza
As oven temperatures vary, cooking times may need to be adjusted to suit your own oven. We suggest you check your pizza after 20 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 190C (375F) or Gas mark 5.

Well known Beefburgers
The above instructions are guidelines only. 
Please ensure your burgers are served piping hot and cooked throughout, till no pink meat remains.

For fan assisted ovens cooking temperatures and time may need to be reduced.

Be aware
As with any hot electrical appliance – be safe.
If you need to remove the lid to stir, place it away from you upside down, remember, it is the lid that does the cooking - it will be hot.

When in use, the Remoska will be hot, avoid contact and keep away from plastic or flammable materials.

Do not heat the empty Remoska as with all Teflon® lined cooking pans, excess heating of an empty pan will eventually damage the Teflon® lining.

Never immerse the lid in water.

Keep away from children.

Cleaning
To clean the lid, switch off, unplug from the mains and when cool wipe the lid and the glass with a damp cloth. Use ordinary washing up liquid on a cloth if necessary.

You can use Lakeland’s stainless steel cleaner on the outside of the lid to maintain that pristine ‘new look’... but we prefer that ‘lived in look’! Well used!

Operating
The Standard Remoska in the UK uses 470w, The Grand Remoska 650w on 240v at 50Hz (although this is being harmonised with Europe and is more likely to be 230v).

You can use the Remoska on caravan sites, campsites, and in Europe IF the electricity supply is suitable. (There are loads of Remoska forums on the subject).

What about the costs?
A traditional oven works at about 2.5kw–3kw. The Standard Remoska at 470w, about 80% less electricity than a normal oven. That’s a huge saving in electricity.

Cook with the Remoska for one hour, for five days or a traditional oven for one hour on one day! Five Remoska meals for the price of one from the traditional oven!

The capital cost of a Remoska can soon be recovered by the running costs
Linden claims to have saved £400 in one year, see her story on the top of the Message Board Page (‘nowt’ to do with us, as they say ‘up north’).

Caveat, Obviously traditional ovens vary by model, capacity, and now it is impossible to know what electricity tariff, (how much you pay) as it varies across the UK. There are other variables such as the recipe and size of ingredients. This should be only seen as an example given in good faith where a like-for-like comparison could be made.

It is without doubt considerably cheaper to run than a traditional oven.
